News: Wrong-way collision in Kansas City injures motorcycle rider

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City said a driver was arrested after a wrong-way accident on Thursday night, WDAF reports.

 

The crash happened on Blue Ridge Boulevard near 47th Terrace at about 9:30 p.m.  According to investigators, the driver of a Chevrolet Equinox SUV was going north and crossed over into the southbound lane, where the vehicle struck a Honda Shadow motorcycle head-on.

 

The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.  Police said the driver of the SUV tried to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

 

Police are investigating the incident and are trying to determine whether impairment was a contributing factor.
