News: Woman, boy hospitalized after van crashes into tree in Bates County

BATES COUNTY, MO – An accident involving a van in Bates County Friday afternoon sent two people to the hospital, KCTV reports.

 

The crash happened in the vicinity of Northeast 9004 and Northeast 7003, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

 

State troopers said a 35-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Chrysler van at about 4:10 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle while cresting a hill on Northeast 9004. The vehicle crashed into a tree, ejecting the driver and her passenger, a 13-year-old boy.

 

The two injured victims, both Kansas City, Missouri residents, were airlifted to area hospitals.  The woman was seriously injured and the boy sustained moderate injuries.  Neither person was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

 

State troopers were assisted at the scene by the Bates County Sheriff’s Department.
