KANSAS CITY, MO – New details have been released in a fatal crash involving a fleeing robbery suspect in Kansas City last week.
According to WDAF, the two people killed in the accident have now been identified by police. They were the suspect, 29-year-old Ollie Caldiron, and the man whose car he struck, 60-year-old Alphonso Duke Carroll.
The Jan. 2 incident began when police set out in pursuit of Caldiron as he was driving a Dodge Challenger on Missouri 210 Highway at about 4:30 a.m. He was suspected in robberies at several Kansas City gas stations in the Northland.
Police said Caldiron began going in the wrong direction on I-435 northbound and officers stopped the chase. The Dodge eventually collided head-on with Carroll’s vehicle, killing both drivers. Carroll, a father of three, was headed to work at the time of the collision.
