LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – An accident in Lee’s Summit Thursday night left a van driver dead, reports KSHB.
Police and first responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash in the vicinity of Missouri 291 Highway and Langsford Road at about 11 p.m.
Investigators said the driver of a Nissan work van was going north on M-291 when the vehicle hit the base of a traffic signal on Langsford Road. The van went through the median and ended up in the southbound lanes of the highway.
The driver was thrown from the van and was pronounced dead later after being taken to an area hospital. His name was not released. Police said no one else was in the van at the time.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Lee’s Summit police.
