News: Teen scooter rider critically injured in collision with car in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A teenager riding a scooter was injured in a collision with a car in Kansas City Saturday night, KMBC reported. 

 

Police said the accident occurred when the teen, riding a Coleman CC100X-mini-scooter, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 93rd Street and Wallace Avenue at about 9 p.m.  He was then struck by a Cadillac Deville at 93rd Street.

 

The scooter rider was listed in critical but stable condition after being taken to an area hospital.  The driver of the car was not injured and stayed at the scene.  Investigators said the scooter was not equipped with any lights.

 

Police are investigating the crash and said that impairment was not considered to have been a contributing factor.
