KANSAS CITY, MO – One person has died as a result of a two-vehicle wreck last Friday, July 26, in north Kansas City, according to Hays Post.
The incident unfolded at the intersection of North Oak Trafficway and 79th Terrace Northeast, in the city’s Jefferson Highlands area. First responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on North Oak when it turned left onto eastbound 79th Terrace. Moments later, it was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu heading northbound on North Oak.
Officials noted that none of the Hyundai’s occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of impact. The driver, front seat passenger, and back seat passenger were all rushed to North Kansas City Hospital, where the backseat passenger succumbed to their injuries.
No injuries to the Chevrolet driver or anyone else have been reported.
Authorities have not indicated any pending charges, but an investigation remains in progress.
