GRANDVIEW, MO – Police in Grandview were called to the scene of a deadly motorcycle accident on Interstate 49 Friday morning.
According to WDAF, the crash happened on I-49 south near 140th Street. Officers arrived to find that a motorcycle had crashed, leaving two people with critical injuries. An investigation indicated that the motorcycle driver was using a construction zone to pass other drivers and lost control of the bike.
One of the victims died after being rushed to an area hospital. The other individual, a woman believed to be the passenger, was listed in critical condition.
Police said the two people, both in their early 30s, were not wearing helmets at the time the incident occurred.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Grandview Police Department.
