News: Man killed when truck has tire blowout, overturns near Lee’s Summit

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – A tire blowout led to a deadly truck crash in Jackson County Wednesday morning, according to state troopers.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2009 Peterbilt 365 semi-truck was headed west on Interstate 470 in Lee’s Summit when the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Troopers said a tire blew out and the truck went off the right side of the highway, overturned, and struck multiple trees.

 

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Quinton Wilkes of Lee’s Summit, was transported to Research Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

 

The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
