KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department said a motorist driving in the wrong direction was killed in a crash on Monday night.
According to KSHB, the KCPD North Patrol Division responded to the scene in the area of Northeast Englewood Road and North Walnut Street.
Investigators determined that a man driving a Nissan Versa was going west on Englewood Road shortly after 9 p.m. and crossed over the double yellow lines, continuing to drive west in the eastbound lanes.
The Nissan then crashed head-on into an eastbound Toyota Highlander just before the intersection with North Walnut Street.
The Nissan driver was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The driver of the Toyota and a passenger were not injured.
