News: High-speed crash on Interstate 70 leaves driver critically injured

KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are investigating a car accident that left a driver critically injured early Sunday morning, reports KSHB.

 

Police said the driver of a Volvo 890 was heading east on Interstate 70 when the crash occurred at about 12:15 a.m. According to investigators, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle near Chestnut Avenue.

 

The car went across three lanes of traffic and struck the center concrete barrier. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was taken to an area hospital and listed in critical condition.

 

Investigators are trying to determine whether the driver was impaired when the wreck occurred.
