News: Head-on collision on Interstate 35 kills both drivers

KANSAS CITY, MO – Two people were killed in an accident in Kansas City involving a wrong-way driver, police said.

 

A KMBC report states that the wreck occurred Nov. 19 on Interstate 35 at Front Street. According to an investigation by Kansas City police, the driver of a Kia Forte was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-35 at about 6 a.m.  The car crashed head-on into a Nissan Sentra, and both drivers died at the scene.

 

The Kia driver was identified as 27-year-old Johnny J. Vega, while the Nissan driver was identified as 43-year-old Jerry Sanchez Jr. No one else was in either vehicle.

 

The crash shut down all lanes of southbound I-35 for three and a half hours.
