News: Head-on collision in Saline County sends both drivers to hospital

SALINE COUNTY, MO – A head-on crash in Saline County on Thursday evening sent both drivers to the hospital, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in its accident log.

 

The incident happened at 5:55 p.m. in the vicinity of the railroad tracks  at Missouri 127 south of E. 2nd Street.

 

The MSHP’s investigation determined that the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was heading northbound and crossed the center line of the roadway.  The Cavalier collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Ford Edge.

 

The driver of the Cavalier, 34-year-old Jacob D. Evans of Bates City, Missouri, was flown to Centerpoint Medical Center. The driver of the Edge, 64-year-old Julia A. Malter of Malta Bend, Missouri, was airlifted to University of Missouri Hospital. Both drivers suffered moderate injuries.

 

Malter was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Evans was not. Both vehicles were totaled and towed away from the scene.
