News: Elderly driver seriously injured in collision on US 65 in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, MO – An elderly driver was injured in a collision in Benton County on Wednesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report.

State troopers said two vehicles collided on US 65 north at Route BB at approximately 9:15 a.m. An investigation determined that 90-year-old Roy Burnfin of Warsaw was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when he failed to yield and pulled into the path of a northbound 1994 Ford Ranger and struck the vehicle.

The impact caused the Ranger to travel off the right side of the roadway, overturn and hit a guardrail. The Explorer came to rest in the right lane of US 65 north.

The driver of the Ranger, 82-year-old Emma Collister of Warsaw, was airlifted to Research Hospital in Kansas City with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
