News: Driver dead, passenger injured in single-vehicle wreck on I-70

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – One person was killed and another injured when their vehicle crashed in Saline County last week, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

 

The MSHP’s crash report said the accident happened in the area of Interstate 70 and U.S. 65 Feb. 16 shortly after 6:30 p.m.

 

State troopers said a 2007 Ford Ranger headed west on I-70 slid off the right side of the roadway, hit a guardrail and overturned on the passenger side.

 

The driver, 79-year-old Dale Montgomery of Lee’s Summit, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His passenger, 73-year-old Thomas Mumm of Lee’s Summit, was seriously injured and taken by Saline County EMS to University Hospital in Columbia.

 

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene.
