News: Driver changing lanes in Kansas City hits, kills pedestrian

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Kansas City’s downtown area on Thursday morning.

 

The Kansas City Star reports the victim was walking across Truman Road at Grand Boulevard when the accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. Police said the driver of an Audi Q7 was going east on Truman Road and went through a green light. As the driver began to change from the outermost lane of traffic to the inner lane, the vehicle hit the pedestrian.

 

The pedestrian died later after being transported to an area hospital. The driver involved stopped after the crash and stayed at the scene, police said.  No charges were immediately filed in the case.
