KANSAS CITY, MO – Three people were injured, including two Kansas City police officers, in a collision early Sunday morning.
According to the Kansas City Star, the incident happened in the area of U.S. 71 and Bannister Road. The two officers were responding to a truck that was wrecked and abandoned in the southbound lanes at about 4:30 a.m.
As the officers were waiting for a tow truck to arrive, their two Kansas City police vehicles were hit from behind by a Ford Fusion. The impact caused one of the officer’s vehicles to hit the other, which then collided with the abandoned truck.
The Ford driver was seriously injured in the wreck, while the officers sustained minor injuries. Police are investigating whether impairment was a contributing factor in the incident.
