JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Johnson County Monday morning.
The MSHP’s accident log stated that the accident occurred on U.S. 50 eastbound at NW 1201st Road at about 11 a.m.
An investigation found that the driver of a 1995 Ford LA9000 failed to yield at the intersection and pulled into the path of a 2007 Honda Accord, hitting the vehicle on the driver’s side. The Accord started to skid, went off the south side of the roadway and came to rest facing southwest. The Ford continued southbound and came to rest on NW 1201st Road.
The driver of the Accord, 56-year-old John Herrera, was seriously injured and taken to Research Medical Center. Two passengers in the Accord, 52-year-old Yvette Herrera, and a 17-year-old girl, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. All are residents of Kansas City. No other injuries were reported.
