News: Boy, 16, dies after van hits minibike at E. 23rd Street and Chelsea Avenue

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police are searching for the driver involved in a crash that killed a teenager in Kansas City on Saturday evening.

 

According to KSHB, the incident happened at the intersection of E. 23rd Street and southbound Chelsea Avenue at about 6:30 p.m.

 

Police said a 16-year-old boy was riding a Serengeti minibike when he failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a white van going west on 23rd Street.

 

The teenager was ejected from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The driver involved kept going westbound after the crash without stopping to help, police said.
