News: 22-year-old woman killed in 2-vehicle accident on Raytown Road

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a woman was killed in a car accident in Jackson County on Thursday night.

 

According to the MSHP’s accident log, the incident took place on Raytown Road near East 71st Terrace at about 9:45 p.m.

 

State troopers said 22-year-old Marianne Fortney of Raytown was driving a Honda Civic northbound when her vehicle crossed over the center line.  The Civic crashed into a GMC Yukon that was headed south.

 

Fortney was pronounced dead after being transported to Research Medical Center. Troopers said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

 

The driver of the Yukon, 56-year-old Michael A. Smallwood of Kansas City, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
