News: 2 tractor-trailers involved in fatal crash on I-70 in Lafayette County

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MO – State troopers said two tractor-trailers were involved in a deadly collision in Lafayette County on Wednesday morning.

KCTV reports the two vehicles collided on Interstate 70 near mile marker 41 at about 7:40 a.m.  According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the 60-year-old driver of one of the semis stopped his truck in traffic due to an earlier accident on the interstate.   The driver of the other truck overtook the first semi and crashed into it.

The second driver, 39-year-old Anthony Meunier of Oak Grove, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Meunier was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, troopers said.  The other driver, John Cullett of Lincoln, Illinois, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center.

The accident shut down I-70 west for about two hours.
