KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision at an intersection in Kansas City sent two police officers to the hospital on Sunday night, authorities said.
A report by KSHB said the crash occurred in the area of East 75th Street and Holmes Road. Investigators said a marked Kansas City Police Department vehicle was on westbound E. 75th Street while on the way to help other officers checking a felony vehicle.
The KCPD car had its lights and sirens on as it entered the intersection. At that point, it was struck by a Nissan Frontier traveling south on Holmes Road.
Two police officers in the vehicle were seriously injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment. The two were both listed in stable condition. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
Kansas City police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
