News: 2 injured when vehicles collide on Blue Parkway in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department said a car crash on Wednesday morning sent both drivers to the hospital.

A report by KCTV said the two vehicles were heading east on Blue Parkway near Interstate 435 shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Investigators say the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was in the far-right lane and tried to change into the middle lane, colliding with a Subaru Forester. The impact caused the Subaru to veer off the roadway and overturn.

The driver of the Subaru was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet was hospitalized with serious injuries and was listed in stable condition. Neither victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to police. No one else was in either vehicle.

Blue Parkway eastbound was shut down for about two hours for the crash investigation, which is continuing.
