KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver and a child were injured when their car crashed in Kansas City Thursday morning, KSHB reported.
Police said the driver of a Ford Fusion was headed south on U.S. 49 and lost control of the vehicle near the intersection with Longview Road, driving off the roadway. The Fusion struck a guardrail, went back across lanes on the highway, hit a median and then went off the road again.
A 10-year-old child who was a passenger in the car was critically injured and transported to an area hospital. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The accident shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. 49 for about 90 minutes while investigators processed the scene.
