KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police said two people were killed when their vehicle was struck by a speeding driver on Sunday afternoon, according to KMBC.
Investigators said the driver of a Mazda CX5 was going south on Bennington Avenue at a high rate of speed sometime before 4:15 p.m. The driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with 17th Street and crashed into an eastbound Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Toyota and a juvenile passenger in the back seat were both declared dead at the scene. The victims were wearing their seat belts, police said. The driver of the Mazda was hospitalized with critical injuries and was later reported to be in stable condition.
The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the wreck and said impairment may have been a contributing factor.
