News: 2 dead, 2 injured after vehicles collide in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department said a two-vehicle collision early Monday morning left two people dead, according to WDAF.

 

The crash took place in the vicinity of Doctor Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bellaire Avenue at about 1:35 a.m.  An investigation found that the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east on Martin Luther King Boulevard and crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic.  The Malibu struck a westbound Chevrolet Trax, then went off the roadway and hit a utility pole.

 

The driver of the Malibu and a passenger, who were not wearing seatbelts, were pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.  The driver of the Trax and a passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries, and were listed in stable condition.

 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
