INDEPENDENCE, MO – A driver attempting to elude police officers ended up crashing in Independence late Wednesday night.
According to a report in the Kansas City Star, police tried to pull over the driver for a traffic stop in the area of Truman Road and Noland Road at about 11 p.m.
The driver did not stop and tried to flee, as police set out in pursuit. During the chase another person in the car fired shots at the police car and hit its headlights, authorities said.
The driver eventually drove off the road and crashed into a tree. Following a brief chase on foot, two men were taken into custody by Independence police.
