KANSAS CITY, MO – A two-vehicle collision in Kansas City on Sunday morning led to the death of a pedestrian, police said.
WDAF reported details of the incident, which is being labelled as a hit-and-run. Police said the driver of a westbound BMW 535XI was traveling at high speed on Truman Boulevard at about 12:45 a.m. and went through a red light at the intersection with Van Brunt Boulevard.
As the driver of a northbound Honda Civic entered the intersection, the Honda was struck by the BMW, which then went off the road and collided with a wooden utility pole. The BMW then struck a pedestrian walking in the south side bike lane of Truman Road.
The pedestrian, identified as 43-year-old Shaunta Rogers, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the two people in the BMW fled the crash scene going west on Truman Road. The driver of the Honda was not injured in the incident.
