News: Man dead, boy injured following ATV accident in Ray County

RAY COUNTY, MO – A man was killed and a teenage boy was injured when their all-terrain vehicle was involved in an accident in Ray County on March 31.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place at 32247 Beaver Run Lane at about 6 p.m.

 

The MSHP said the driver of a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak ATV was traveling in a field and began to skid to avoid hitting a stationary trailer.  The vehicle overturned and the driver and passenger were both ejected.  Both struck the stationary trailer.

 

The driver, 55-year-old David Martin, was pronounced dead after being taken to Excelsior Springs Hospital.  The passenger, a 13-year-old boy, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital.  Both are from Lawson, Missouri.

 

State troopers said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
