News: Motorist dies after crashing into vehicle on shoulder of I-49

CASS COUNTY, MO – State troopers said a motorist was killed in a collision in Cass County on Sunday morning.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s accident report stated that the incident occurred on Interstate 49 southbound at mile marker 148.

 

An investigation found that a 2019 Ford Expedition was stationary on the shoulder following an earlier collision. A southbound 2001 Chevrolet Astro traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck the Ford.  The Chevrolet then overturned and struck a tree.

 

The driver of the Chevrolet was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.  She was identified as 29-year-old Felecia Fitzgerald of Rich Hill, Missouri.  She was wearing a seat belt, state troopers said.  No other injuries were reported.
