News: 2 dead following motorcycle collision in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Two people were killed in an accident involving a motorcycle near an intersection in Independence on Wednesday, KSHB reported.

 

Police were called to the scene in the vicinity of N. Elsea Smith Road and E. US 24 Highway after the incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m.

 

An investigation indicated the driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading westbound when the bike collided with a northbound Dodge Ram pickup truck.

 

The driver of the motorcycle and a passenger were thrown from the bike and both died at the scene.  The driver of the Dodge stayed at the scene and was reported to be cooperating with investigators.

 

Independence police accident investigators are continuing their probe into what caused the wreck.
