KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are investigating a crash that left a scooter rider critically injured, according to KSHB.
The victim was struck Aug. 8 in the area of Troost Avenue and East 77th Street at about 8:40 p.m.
Investigators said two SUVs were racing on Troost Avenue northbound. One or both of the vehicles collided with a northbound Honda Metropolitan scooter. The vehicles were believed to be a Hyundai Santa Fe or a Kia Sorento.
The operator of the scooter was hospitalized in critical condition. Investigators are now trying to track down the drivers of the vehicles, one of which may have turned east on East 76th Street.
Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact the Kansas City police Traffic Investigation Section.
