KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a crash on Thursday night that left a motorcycle rider severely injured.
According to WDAF, the accident happened on 63rd Street near Interstate 435 at about 9:45 p.m.
Investigators determined that the driver of a Yamaha VStar 1300 motorcycle was headed east and lost control of the motorcycle near the entrance ramp for southbound I-435. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, which slid on its side.
The motorcycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was hospitalized with injuries considered life-threatening. Police are trying to find out whether impairment was a contributing factor in the incident.
