KANSAS CITY, MO – Three people were injured when the driver of a stolen ambulance crashed into multiple vehicles in Kansas City last Wednesday afternoon, KCTV reported.
Police said the Kansas City Fire Department ambulance was parked near the emergency room of Research Medical Center on E. Meyer Boulevard when it was stolen shortly before 3 p.m. The driver drove away at a high rate of speed and struck four other vehicles near the exit ramp to southbound 71 Highway.
The ambulance then veered off the roadway, struck a tree and went down an embankment before ending up in the northbound lanes of Prospect Avenue.
Two drivers of the vehicles that were struck were seriously injured and taken to hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition. The driver of the stolen ambulance was also hospitalized in stable condition.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
