News: Man dies after driving off road, crashing into sign in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A man died after he was involved in a high-speed car wreck in Kansas City on Thursday morning, according to police.

 

KHSB reports the accident happened on Westport Road near Roanoke Parkway sometime before 4 a.m.

 

Police said a man was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound at a high rate of speed of up to 90 miles an hour when he lost control of the car. The Nissan went off the road and crashed into a concrete sign in a Papa John’s parking lot.

 

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Westport Road was shut down for at least two hours while crews responded to the crash scene.
