News: SUV collides with Kansas City fire truck at West 43rd and Madison Ave

KANSAS CITY, MO – A sport utility vehicle collided with a Kansas City Fire Department truck that was on its way to an emergency call on Monday afternoon, KMBC reports.

 

Police said the ladder truck had its lights and siren activated while headed west on West 43rd Street, and collided with a Lincoln MKX that was going north on Madison Avenue.

 

The fire department truck went off the right side of the roadway and struck three wooden utility poles, shearing off two of them.

 

The driver of the Lincoln sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was in the car. No firefighters were injured in the wreck.

 

Kansas City police are investigating the cause of the accident.
