KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver was taken into custody following a crash that killed a pedestrian in Kansas City on Thursday evening, reports KMBC.
Police said the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was going west on Winner Road at a high rate of speed at about 7:37 p.m. and collided with two cars. The impact of the collision sent the pickup into the parking lot of a nearby liquor store just past Blue Ridge Boulevard.
The truck hit a woman who had just walked out of the store. She was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
Police said the driver of the pickup tried to flee the scene but was followed by two other drivers. With their help, police were able to track down and arrest the suspected hit-and-run driver.
